Design Philosophy
How I think about design.
Start with the human
Every design decision should trace back to a real person with a real need. Research isn't a phase – it's an orientation. Before I sketch a single screen, I want to understand the emotional landscape a person brings to the interaction.
Systems over screens
Designing a product means designing a language. Individual screens are expressions of a larger system of patterns, decisions, and principles. When the system is right, individual screens follow naturally – and the product feels coherent even in parts you haven't touched.
Constraints breed creativity
The most interesting design problems are the ones with genuine constraints – regulatory requirements, legacy infrastructure, tight timelines. Limitations force you to be inventive in ways that unconstrained briefs rarely do. I've learned to treat constraints as creative prompts.
Craft lives in the details
The gap between a good product and a great one is often invisible in isolation – the timing of a transition, the weight of a typeface choice, the precise phrasing of an error message. These details accumulate into a feeling. That feeling is the product.
From Collaborators
What people I worked with say.
Working with Viktoriia was a true pleasure. She brings light and enthusiasm to the team, inspiring us to excel. Her clear communication style and design insights were instrumental in helping Casechek present a unified and coherent user experience. Viktoriia's empathy and ability to foster psychological safety created an environment where colleagues felt encouraged to perform at their best. Her contributions, particularly on the hospital app redesign, were invaluable. I would consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to work with her again. Viktoriia would be a tremendous asset to any team.
Working alongside Viktoriia is an absolute pleasure. She is dedicated, bright, hardworking, and committed to company success. Furthermore, Viktoriia is an excellent listener – a valuable skill that is sometimes taken for granted, but so integral to building and maintaining a successful relationship between product and sales teams at any company. Viktoriia is committed to getting it right when it comes to product management and how her team can contribute to the growth of the product. On a personal level, Viktoriia is collaborative, supportive of her teammates, and open to feedback, which she turns into actionable results. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with Viktoriia and would be happy to speak with anyone on my experience.
Viktoriia is an excellent designer and a great teammate. I worked with Viktoriia at a Brooklyn startup, AdvisorConnect, collaborating on countless initiatives to implement new features, from inception to production. As lead designer, she displayed very competent leadership and she was a delight to work with. She would often take on different roles that fell under the umbrella of being the authority of the product's design – sometimes involving QA roles, or researching code in material libraries to perfect the UX design – more than pulling her weight. Ultimately, she'd be an asset on any team for innumerable reasons.
